Dear Col. LaVoy:

This letter is in regard to Do Xa and the support the “Yankee Kilo Marines” received from Captain Jack Woodmansee on 27 April 1964.  In writing the history for this incident it became quite clear that Jack was not appropriately recognized for his gallant efforts on that day as he was awarded an Air Medal.  I am aware that your endorsement, as the Commanding Officer of HMM-364, was placed on the squadron’s Awards Board recommendation that Jack be awarded the Navy Cross.  Several of us have seen fit to have this revisited for an appropriate award for valor under extreme circumstances.  The enclosed documents, which are all displayed on our web site, will speak for themselves.

I solicit your support in writing to the Honorable Sam Johnson of Texas to confirm, as you recall, the comments contained in the attached correspondence.

I would appreciate a copy of any correspondence you may initiate.  Your correspondence will also be placed on the web site so all concerned may keep abreast of the progress of our endeavor.

Respectfully yours,
