Cpl. Gary Headrick was with the first tour during
63-64 and returned in '65. Capt Coleman was the Maintenance Officer
and pilots were breaking tail locking pins and hitting rotor blade tips.
He delevoped what he called the "Hero Tree" and maintenace would hang the
part/s with the persons name that had caused the damage. The "tree"
first appeared around Christmas time 1965.

Sgt. George H. Dodds also served his first tour (63-64)
in Vietnam with our squadron as a Cpl. As with the above photograph
he is standing outside the line shack and next to the squadron's Christmas
tree. Since the supply system did not provide trees nor ornaments,
the tree was locally grown and the ornaments were non-traditional.

Sgt. Kenneth J. "Ken" Blais was the NCOIC of the squadron's
hydraulic section. Two hospital tents joined end to end served as
line shack. Two more joined in the same manner served the various
maintenance shops. They worked well at Ky Ha.
