Cpl. Don Thompson (foreground), with a mouth full
of rivets, is repairing bullet and/or shrapnel holes in the deck of the
helo. The enemy provided lots of holes for our 'metal benders' to
repair. Other Marine assisting in the repair is Cpl. R. C. Brooks.

Sgt. Seinco Varela was a member of the Check Crew.
He seriously injured a finger in the blade fold mechanism and was eventually
evacuated. Rumors had him losing an arm. However, when Cpl.
Mike
Rollings rotated back to Tustin, Varela was his section leader, and he
was still the proud owner of all his limbs. So much for rumors.
