Col. Jacob L. "Jay" Larue
(Update, Thursday 24 November 2005)

J. Larue, 1st Lt. USMC somewhere in RVN 1968-1969.
Note: Bermuda shorts at what looks like Phu Bai and large wrist watch.
Must have been a helicopter pilot!

I talked with Jay and his son, Scott yesterday and inquired about the plaque from MARFORPAC that "Growler" mentioned.  Nothing presented to date.  No way for me here at this end to resolve.  Also, no CH-46 E Photo from HMM-364 in Iraq signed by squadron members has arrived, yet.  Embedded is another photo of Lt. Jay Larue.  Were that he looked this good.  After yesterdays visit, I don't know if he'll see Birthday #62 this Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005.  In talking with the doctors who have ministered his needs thus far, all expect him to just not wake up as he is ever so weak and may just not have the strength to open his eyes.  His will to live is gone and he can't eat any food.  Medical folks are just providing pain management medications and nothing else.  Still recognizes his golfing friends and others.  Can hardly hear him as his voice is a mere whisper.  Still smiles at silly comical antics we try to charge him up with.  Took camera (digital) with me yesterday to get photo of plaque if it had been there.  Will not take picture of what his appearance is now.  Please remember him in your prayers and from his appearance in old photos.

Aloha ... David Debelatti
