Sgt. Foyster "Willy" Williams, Jr. and his entire
crew received a startling "wake up call" on the night of April 13, 1970
when an object dropped from the sky, passed through the aft rotor system
and impacted the port rear section of YK-17. It was determined to
have been either a dud flare or dud mortar round. Took a while to
repair the damage.
