The instrument panel has undergone a face lift since
Vietnam
I had forgotten how many items are subject to combat
damage.

"A Lot of Old and Something New"
The bird, in spite of the instrument panel face lift,
fuel tank augmentations and other changes, along with George Lycan on the
left and Warren Smith on the right are the "old." 1stLt. John M.
Lewis is the only part of this photo that is "new."
"I just had the honor of spending Thursday through
Saturday with Marines from the start of HMM-364 to the current standard
bearers. Those of us from that proud starting point are bearing up, although
we lost two trying to make it to our reunion. I am most proud of those
of the current squadron that made the effort to share the weekend with
us. They are in better shape and a lot smarter than I ever remember us
being at that stage. I was amazed that 16 of our 18 guests had reenlisted
for another tour. Their dedication was apparent and unshakable."
