A nice quiet day on Hill 881S. The crew of YL-33
is probably having afternoon tea with Capt. Dabney. PFC.Kenneth
E. Hinz takes a leisurely minute to pose by the aircraft. Probably
doesn't know where he left his helmet and flack jacket.

Now it is Sgt. Dan Lloyd's turn to pose by the UH-34.
If he knew what was coming in a few days he might have asked for a ride
off the hill when they left after tea. Instead, he is probably thinking
about the hot shower and clean clothes waiting for him back at KSCB.

The UH-34s were armed with M-60s. Their
CH-46 replacements were initialy armed the same, but soon the .50cal machine
guns replaced the M-60s.

What appears to be a wooden cross above the valley
fog probably had another purpose of supporting wire. In retrospect,
considering all the suffering, dying and praying that followed it has another
meaning now.
