Lt. Brindley by the 3rd Platoon CP. It was abandoned
on 21 Jan because it couldn't be improved to sustain the heavy hostile
fire without engineer support which was unavailable and any more weight
on top would have collapsed it.

The above-ground crappers were likewise abandoned
on 21 Jan, for the same reasons, plus the fact that they used 55 gallon
drums cut in half as receptacles, which meant we had to burn them, which
meant that helos had to deliver diesel fuel. Didn't make sense so
Doc. Steinberg solve the problem with artillery round canisters place at
strategic locations in the trench lines.

Appears this CH-46 is landing with a smoke screen
behind to shield it from the NVA gunners.
