Lt. Dwarsky's last Hill 881 photo as he was being
evacuated with shrapnel wounds to his left shoulder and waist while helping
another wounded man. They had been trying to retrieve an M-60 from
a downed UH-34. After several weeks he returned to duty at Quang
Tri.

We saw the delivery end of these missions. We
are grateful to all the Air Force, Navy and Marine personnel who maintained
and armed all those aircraft that "saved our bacon." The aircraft
here is an F-4 Phantom.

When we patrolled in the elephant grass, this is representative
of the grass and terrain features we navigated through. Difficult,
if not impossible, to see where you placed your feet. Also not seen
were the leeches that wanted our blood as much as the NVA. This provides
a great look at the 689 ridge line on December 31, 1967.
