UH-34 helicopter shot down 21 Jan '68 on 881S.  It remained there  throughout siege.   Frequent nearby impacts of NVA 120mm mortars  riddled it with holes.  Door guns were "appropriated" by 881S Marines  to strenghten defenses.

500 lb bomb impacting about 500 yards north of 881S. Dropped by Marine aircraft, Marine pilots  were better trained in close air support, were more disciplined to  follow precisely the Forward Air Controller's instructions.
